Somerset Scouts race for bragging rights
Somerset’s Scout Pack 144 held its Pine Wood Derby on March 3. A total of 80 boys raced, as well as 18 in the leaders and family event.

A total of 80 boys raced, as well as 18 in the leaders and family event.
Registration and weigh in was March 2. Once reservations were completed, the contestants were treated to a snack of pizza on the Pack.
Race Day was at Somerset Elementary. Racing ran from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Venturer Crew 144 managed the Derby Day Care and Craft Center. About 150 kids were provided face painting, coloring, crafts and games.
The event concluded with afternoon heats from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m., followed by awards.
The following boys will advance to the district event, Saturday, April 14, in St. Croix Falls. The top two from each rank advance, with the third place finisher to serve as alternate in case one of the top two racers can’t attend districts.
The Lions representatives include: Aiden Johnson and Hayden Haller. Runner up is Wyatt Mendlik.
Tiger winners included Jax Long and Bobby Schmitt. Runner up was Tyler Bishop.
The top Wolves winners were Dillon Kenaga and Cole Kelley. Runner up was Nick Meyer.
Top finishers for the Bears were Ethan Greener and Riley Sauers. Runner up was Tristan Kozlowski.
Top Webelos I finishers were Spencer Sindt and Ethan Ashton. Runner up was Sam Chapman.
Webelos II top winners were Connor Darrow and Ben Cahanes. Runner up was Cole Erickson.
The top overall racer was Jax Long.
