To the Editor:
My congratulations to New Richmond High School’s boys basketball team! The boys are the first team to win five straight basketball titles.
The New Richmond boys have become the first Middle Border Conference team to win the conference championship in five straight seasons.
The Tigers completed that feat on Thursday night, Feb. 23, with a 50-29 win. New Richmond finishes tied with Baldwin-Woodville for the 2011-12 Middle Border Conference Championship. Both teams finished with 11-3 records. Baldwin-Woodville locked up its share of the title with a 46-36 win over Ellsworth on Thursday night, Feb. 23.
Also my congratulations to Head Coach Rick Montreal, New Richmond High School Tiger boys basketball coach, Assistant Coach Craig Kittel for New Richmond High School and also JV Coach Bo Brandt.
I went to watch New Richmond High School boys basketball when they won over Ashland, 50-35. They played Holmen Vikings at Holmen on Friday, March 2. New Richmond lost to Holmen Vikings 44-50. My congratulations to the New Richmond girls basketball team, who completed one of the most incredible one-year turnarounds in Middle Border Conference history. On Friday night the Tigers won 47-35 over Osceola and Somerset 33-30 victory over Durand. The Tigers were able to win a share of the 2011-12 Middle Border Conference title. Durand played at Osceola this Thursday night if Osceola would upset the Tigers they would be the outright Middle Border Conference title holders.
The girls won the first Middle Border Conference title since 1980.
My congratulations to New Richmond girls basketball Coach Jeff Kanewischer for winning the Middle Border Conference title.
