UPDATE: Monday crash victim identified

One individual is dead following a semi versus pickup crash on Highway 35 near Dresser, Wis. on Monday.

One individual is dead following a semi versus pickup crash on Highway 35 near Dresser on Monday.

The Polk County Sheriff's office received 911 calls about the accident at around 10:37 a.m. April 2. The crash was reported to be near the intersection of Clark Road, just to the north of Dresser.

A 2004 Freightliner semi-tractor owned by Wholesale Distribution Services of Byron, Minn. was allegedly involved in the crash. A northbound 2002 Ford Ranger pickup reportedly drove into the path of the semi, according to the sheriff's report.

The driver of the Ford Ranger, Jeffrey Chartand, 55, of Lindstrom, Minn., was pronounced dead at the scene after resuscitation efforts failed.

The driver of the semi, Devin W. Curley, 26, of Byron was not injured in the crash.

The Polk County Sheriff's office was assisted by Dresser, Osceola and St. Croix Falls police departments; Polk County Highway Department; Wisconsin State Patrol; Dresser-Osceola-Garfield Fire Department and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

The crash remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff's office.
