LETTER: Restoring the history of ‘The City Beautiful’
In Bill Driscoll’s Feb. 23 letter he asked a great question. His question was in regard to the New Richmond City council changing our city’s motto and logo from “The City Beautiful” with its willow tree to “Actively Inviting, Naturally Authentic,” complete with a new synthetic sapling.
To the Editor:
In Bill Driscoll’s Feb. 23 letter he asked a great question. His question was in regard to the New Richmond City council changing our city’s motto and logo from “The City Beautiful” with its willow tree to “Actively Inviting, Naturally Authentic,” complete with a new synthetic sapling. His question: “What town are you referring to?”
Right off the top it sounds like an Orwellian “1984” contrived, dystopian city named Petri dish, somewhere on the continent of Ameri-Dystopia.
Why would our City Council, given the rich Irish heritage of this area, change this quaint and beautiful legacy handed down from one of New Richmond’s own, Stella McNally? Is this evolving monkey business really the brain child of our City Council? Or is their collective tale being waged by a territorial cabal of elite socially progressive authoritarian free range earth cats?
Do not be deceived. This elite, mind-bending jargon is of a kindred spirit with the pushy “Blue Zone-Vitality Initiative-Transformative Movement.” Though initially innocuous, this command control, mandate-nurturing brain child is in reality a budding new component of the overreaching, unelected, unaccountable unconstitutional, administrative fourth branch of government. It is fully consistent with the overreaching “New Age” Movement, which is in part a loose nit socialist/compound religion and metaphysical belief system so convoluted, multifaceted and vast; it’s hard to know where to begin. So I won’t. Please do your homework. Just for starters Google AEDESD.org and click on the headings and subheadings at this website. Don’t miss Authentic Leadership.
The bottom line is that this progressively implemented, ancient tyrannical, top down, authoritarian world view is alien and hostile to the sanctity of life: our Declaration of Independence and Constitution, the ability to protect and defend ourselves, petroleum-based fuels, coal, individual liberty, personal property rights, our unmatched private health care system, creative genius, U.S. manufacturing, innovation, the civil society, voter I.D., truth, reason, charity and Christianity.
It is therefore inconsistent with New Richmond’s heritage, traditions and predominant belief system, namely Christianity. Evidenced in our yearly, though as of late conspicuously slow forthcoming Nativity Scene displayed in our public square.
If the yoke of this “New Age” jargon and logo cannot be thrown off, it may well be appropriate to contact the highly influential “New Age” Sierra Club. With their focus now turned from the St. Croix River Bridge, they continue exercising their vital initiative and are now actively inviting new, naturally authentic endeavors to pursue. Maybe they can wave their “New Age” wand mandating The River Willow be re-designed, “The Actively Inviting, Naturally Authentic, Critical, Aquatic Habitat.”
Possibly with enough interest, an alternative course of action could be set in motion, recapturing our time-tested and true motto and logo. Thereby retaining an appropriate asset of our heritage given the indisputable fact of the existence of The River Willow in our midst.
There is a little known antidote to Progressive Socialism. Developed in 1971 L.A. C.A. It now lays virtually dormant contained within the confines of the soft rock band “Bread’s” magnum opus song “Mother Freedom.”
Progressives, if you dare, YouTube it and listen. If you can’t believe your ears, Google the lyrics. Seeing is oops, check that. Believing in the unseen, is seeing.
