American Heritage Care Center and Heritage Court residents in Hammond enjoyed sharing memories, dancing and dressing up for the Senior Prom on Tuesday, March 27.
This is the sixth year the care center has hosted a prom.
AHCC Life Enrichment Director Angela Fortney said the residents always have a lot of fun at and before the event.
“Before the prom, the residents enjoyed getting dressed-up with fancy dresses that were donated by staff and volunteers, bow-ties or neck-ties for each of the men. Then each resident was greeted by the Hammond Royalty and each lady was given a corsage,” she said.
Music was provided by Roger Heutmaker & Friends.
“There were lots of smiles, laughter, hands clapping and feet tapping, especially on the dance floor,” Fortney said about the evening’s entertainment.
In addition to the band there was an elegant hors d’oeuvres and beverage table.
Residents reminisced about old memories while making new memories.
“One resident’s spouse told me that this was the first prom she and her husband have ever been to,” Fortney said. “You’re never too old to create new and lasting memories.”
Fortney said residents were still talking about how much they enjoyed the event the following day.
Fortney said the Hammond Royalty deserves a special thank you for attending the prom and dancing with the residents.
