Somerset forensics sends 16 to state

The Somerset High School forensics team has done so well this season, it will be honored with the first forensics pepfest in school history as a sendoff the day of the state competition.

Somerset will have 16 students competing in the 2012 Wisconsin High School Forensics Association State Speech Festival on Friday, April 20, at UW-Madison. The Somerset students will compete at 7:30 p.m. that day.

Before they leave, the students will be recognized at the first pepfest for a Somerset forensics team. Somerset forensics advisor Jeanne Germain said it was important that the students get recognized for their success. This is the second straight year Somerset is sending 16 students to the state contest.

Germain and SHS Spanish teacher Sara Turner are both certified forensics judges and will be serving as judges at the state contest. Germain said having Turner help with the team this winter has been advantageous, because the Somerset students can now rehearse before two judges to sharpen their presentations.

Here is the list of SHS students who have qualified for state:
