A New Richmond man has been charged with three counts of sexual assault of girls at a home day care 10 years ago.

According to the complaint, three girls claim to have been sexually assaulted by Harold W. Johnson, 66, of New Richmond while in his care from 2001-2002. The alleged victims were 6-12 years old at the time.

The home on Meadowlark Lane is no longer being used as a day care and is currently not licensed as a day care facility, according to the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families.

When police interviewed Johnson, he acknowledged that the three alleged victims had been clients of the child care at the home, but denied any sexual activities or touching, according to the complaint.

An initial appearance in the case is scheduled for June 14 in St. Croix County Court.
