Cut Loose Salon in Somerset has a new location and a new look these days.
The business, owned by Somerset-native Ashley Hatch, recently opened at 311 Main St. (formerly the Somerset Post Office).
For about two years Hatch ran her business at 242 Main St., but last fall after a few months of fellow stylists Kris Smith and Tracy Hennen renting space at the salon, Hatch realized she’d have to find a building with more space.
“We outgrew it. I loved where I was at. It was perfect for just me, but when the two girls joined me it was just way too small,” she said.
Hatch said she was drawn to the old Post Office location because of its visibility on Main Street, as well as the additional space the building provided.
The former Cut Loose location was about 700 square feet. The new salon is a roomy 1,700 square feet.
The salon has an inviting feel, with wood and rock accents along the halls, five separate styling stations, two rooms for tanning beds, as well as a waiting area, product shelves and a coffee corner.
“I’ve had a lot of people say it is chic and elegant,” Hatch said of the salon’s ambiance.
Hatch said it took a lot of help from family, friends and her fellow stylists to get the new salon ready.
She also credits Haffner Construction of New Richmond for helping get the salon finished by her April deadline.
Construction started at the end of December and, after a few delays along the way, the salon opened for business at the new location on April 11.
Hatch said she wanted to be in the new location before the busyness of prom, graduation, senior pictures and weddings this spring and summer.
She says the salon has been busy the last couple weeks with customers and residents stopping by to see the transformation of the building.
Hatch said the salon turned out just like she’d envisioned it.
“There’s not one thing I would change,” she said.
Hatch said she hopes her business continues to grow and that the two empty stations will get filled by area stylists looking for a fun place to rent.
“I’m really pumped to get more people in here and to be able to work with both the girls (Hennen and Smith) at the same time. We could only work two at a time in the old location,” Hatch said. “We have a lot of fun working together.”
Cut Loose provides cuts, colors, foiling, perms, waxing and tanning.
