Wind farm project open house set in New Richmond

The Highland Wind Farm development team will hold an "open house" for people interested in the proposed project on Wednesday, April 25, in New Richmond at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College on South Knowles from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

The Highland Wind Farm development team will hold an "open house" for people interested in the proposed project on Wednesday, April 25, in New Richmond at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College on South Knowles from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

“We invite you to join us, learn the latest details about the project, and ask questions of our experts,” said Jay Mundinger, spokesman for the project.

The proposed wind farm project includes the following details: 26,550 acre project boundary; 41 turbine sites with 11 additional alternative locations; an estiamted 100-member construction work force; an estimated six to eight permanent employees for wind farm operations.

If constructed, the project would connect to Xcel Energy’s 161-kilovolt transmission line near Forest-Cylon town line

The Highland Wind Farm, LLC is a project slated to be located in the towns of Forest and Cylon in St. Croix County and would produce enough renewable wind energy to power more than 30,000 homes.
