Mark your calendars for St. Croix Central Middle School’s very first fifth-grade dinner theater on Thursday, May 10.
Music teacher Michelle Schmitt promises the fifth-graders will rock your socks off with their “Back to the 50s” themed performance, with songs like “Rock Around the Clock,” “Sherry,” “Jailhouse Rock” and “Splish Splash.”
She said the dinner theater performance in the multipurpose room is considered the students’ pop concert and is their only spring performance this school year.
The dinner served will be an ALIVE dinner fundraiser (Aid to Local Individuals Via Education). A free-will offering for the dinner is requested and all proceeds go to the ALIVE Foundation, which donates funds to local families in need.
Dinner will be served from 4-5:30 p.m., with the fifth-graders performing at 5:30 p.m.
Following the students’ performance, the fifth-graders will host a “Back to the 50s” dance, with a dynamic performance from The Whitesidewalls from 6-8 p.m. in the middle school large gym.
The Whitesidewalls are known for their high energy performances of everything from the classic Doo-Wop to Rock-a-Billy and Rock ‘n Roll.
The dance is free to all fifth-grade SCC students and is open to the public for a small fee. Tickets to the dance sold in advance cost $4 per person or $8 per family. Tickets purchased the night of the dance will cost $5 per person or $10 per family.
Tickets can be purchased in advance by contacting Schmitt at mschmitt@scc.k12.wi.us or 715-796-2256, ext. 141.
Advanced tickets will be sold through May 4.
Schmitt says “put on your saddle shoes and leather jacket and come join a full night of fun with the fifth-grade music students.”
