At the Roberts Lions Club’s March dinner meeting held at Roberts United Church of Christ, Immediate Past President Gerilynne Wood was presented with three awards by Lion District Governor David Schaefer, including the International Presidents Membership Achievement award given to a president that, during their tenure, reached or exceeded the predetermined goal for new membership; in this case the goal was exceeded.
Also awarded was the Lions Club Excellence Award, presented to the club and Wood for communicating with the community about Lions Club activities, community service projects and fundraisers, leadership growth and officer training and, again, membership growth. Thirdly, Wood was presented with the Wisconsin Lions Foundation pin for helping the club fulfill its commitment to supporting the Wisconsin Lions Foundation (WLF). The WLF funds the Lions Camp of Wisconsin, which provides camping for the blind and other groups as well as many other programs too numerous to list.
“The club is very proud of the awards and accomplishments of Past President Gerilynne Wood. The accolades are well deserved. As a club we will continue on in this positive direction,” current Roberts Lions Club President Geno Hanson said. “In that spirit, I would like to welcome the club’s newest member, who was inducted at our March dinner meeting, Mary Breitenstein. I have no doubt Mary will use her strengths and talents for the betterment of the club and in turn the community.”
