The Somerset High School forensics team produced an outstanding performance at the State WHSFA Competition last Friday at University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Somerset’s team brought home five gold medals (perfect scores - 25/25), five silver medals (scores of 23 or 24 out of 25) and three bronze medals from the state competition.
“We had a great pepfest prior to our departure where our team was recognized in addition to the state solo/ensemble qualifiers and the state and national FBLA qualifiers. I think it was the first time in school history that the fine arts and academic teams were recognized in this way,” said Somerset forensics advisor Jeanne Germain.
The Somerset forensics students performed at 7 p.m. on Friday at various buildings on the UW-Madison campus. Prior to the performances, they were given the opportunity to explore State Street. Sara Turner, the SHS Spanish teacher, accompanied Germain as a second judge and chaperone.
