LETTER: Barrett’s record speaks for itself

To the Editor:
June 5, 2012 will be a critical election day for the future of Wisconsin.
In my opinion, Gov. Walker has implemented programs that provide for a bright fiscal future for our state. Others disagree and will vote for Tom Barrett who has been the mayor of Milwaukee since 2004. A look at some critical statistics for the city that he has lead should be cause for concern:
* A poverty rate of fourth worst of major cities in the nation
* Unemployment that is third worst of major cities in the nation
* Increased taxes 10.1 percent in 2009
* A high school graduation rate of 61 percent, 47 percent for blacks, and a truancy rate of 46 percent. Further, the graduation rate of the principal school district of Milwaukee is only 41 percent, fourth worst of any major U.S. city
In addition, Tom Barrett has an “F” rating from the National Rifle Association (NRA) for his lengthy anti-gun stance, supporting gun bans, endorsing state gun registration and supporting regulation of gun shows.
The choice is clear, we cannot afford to have the failed leadership of Tom Barrett extend to the entire state of Wisconsin.
