St. Croix Central graduate Mark Shaver was named to the All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference baseball team.
Shaver, a senior at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, was named as the relief pitcher on the All-NSIC second team. One reliever was selected for the first and second teams.
Assigned to the role of a reliever early on in the season, Shaver made his last four appearances in the role of starter for the Bulldogs. Owning a team-best 1.44 ERA, the senior out of Roberts has struck out 24 batters in his last three games, including a single-season high 11 against the University of Mary on May 5.
The right-hander enjoyed perhaps his most effective outing on April 28 in Sioux Falls when he fired 5.2 innings of perfect baseball before allowing a hit to Augustana in a 3-1 UMD victory. Shaver owns a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 35-to-four in 2012.
