WIAA spring sports tournaments begin next week

Spring sports seasons are reaching their crescendo, with several sports beginning their WIAA tournament schedules next week.

Here is an update on each spring sport and their tournament trails, listed by starting date.

Track

New Richmond hosts the WIAA Division 1 regional track meet next Monday, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Sectional qualifiers will advance to the Division 1 sectional meet, which will be held on Thursday, May 24 at Rice Lake, beginning at 4 p.m.

Somerset and St. Croix Central will compete in the Division 2 regional meet at St. Croix Central next Monday, which begins at 4 p.m. The next step for the sectional qualifiers is competing on Thursday, May 24, at the Medford Division 2 sectional meet. That meet begins at 3:30 p.m.

Tennis

The New Richmond boys will compete in the Eau Claire Memorial Division 1 subsectional meet next Monday. Play starts at 8:15 a.m. Players who advance out of the subsectional will play in the Marshfield Division 1 sectional meet, which will played on Wednesday, May 23, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Boys golf

New Richmond will host the Division 1 regional tournament, which will be held on Wednesday, May 23 at the New Richmond Golf Club. Tee time is 9 a.m. Golfers who advance out of the regional will play in the Marshfield Division 1 sectional meet at the RiverEdge Golf Course in Marshfield. The sectional will be played on Tuesday, May 29, beginning at 9 a.m.

Somerset’s Bristol Ridge Golf Course will be the site of the Division 2 regional meet, with Somerset and St. Croix Central among the 11 teams entered. The regional will be played at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22. Golfers moving on from the regional will compete in the Division 2 sectional meet on Tuesday, May 29. The sectional will be played at the Amery Golf Club, with an 11 a.m. tee time.

Softball

New Richmond, Somerset and St. Croix Central will all compete in the same Division 2 regional tournament bracket. The first round of regional play will be held on Thursday, May 24. The sectional semifinal will be played on Monday, June 4 at St. Croix Central and the sectional championship game will be held at Rice Lake on Thursday, June 7.

Baseball

New Richmond will compete in the Division 1 baseball regional, with the first round of games scheduled for Tuesday, May 29. The sectional semifinals and championship game will be played at Chippewa Falls on Thursday, June 5.

Somerset competes in Division 2 Regional B, with games beginning on Friday, May 25. St. Croix Central will be competing in Division 2 Regional C, also with a May 25 start date. The Division 2 sectional tournament will be played at Barron on Tuesday, June 5.

Girls soccer

New Richmond will compete in the Division 1 regional bracket, with the first round of games on Thursday, May 31. New Richmond will host the sectional championship game on Saturday, June 9.

Somerset will compete in Division, with the first regional game on Thursday, May 31.
