The Spartans will host the regional final at 5 p.m. on Wednesday after defeating a tenacious Amery team 2-1 in Somerset on Tuesday. Somerset will face the winner of Tuesday's game between Barron and Osceola in the regional title game.
Somerset had many scoring chances, leaving the bases loaded three times without scoring early in the game. The Spartans finally took the lead with two outs in the bottom of the sixth when Cody Joiner singled home Jake Mantalica.
Zack Waalen pitched the complete game four-hitter for Somerset. Gabe Paulson worked the full game for Amery, allowing 11 hits.
