To the Editor:
A few things to consider before voting in the recall of Gov. Scott Walker.
Walker is the only Wisconsin governor in history who has had a legal defense fund. Wisconsin statutes permit a state government official who is being investigated for or charged with violation of campaign finance laws or prohibited election practices to establish a legal defense fund.
He promised Diane Hendricks – his biggest billionaire donor – that he'd turn Wisconsin into a red state with Right to Work (for less) laws. A recent video confirms this. He also said that he had no goals of union busting. Now that the video has surfaced he said, "I have no interest in pursuing right-to-work legislation in this state." However, he will not answer whether he will sign or veto such legislation, which would prohibit private-sector employees from paying union dues.
Scott Walker promised 250,000 more jobs. Fact: Wisconsin has lost more jobs over the past 12 months than any other state.
Scott Walker promised 10,000 new businesses. Fact: After one year of the Walker era, there were 9,485 fewer businesses than at the end of 2010, Gov. Jim Doyle's final year in office.
“A dozen people with ties to Scott Walker have now been granted immunity in a criminal prosecution where their truthful testimony would have incriminated them. Scott Walker is the linchpin for the entire conspiracy, where he was the sole beneficiary for almost all the acts now alleged to have been felonies.”
In April Walker signed SB202 into law. This legislation removes protections of military service members who are sent overseas or called up to serve their country from being fired for doing so.
He has taken money from a fully federally funded program that assists veterans in gaining employment, to the tune of $3,400 per veteran, in order to fill a budget hole.
These are all facts that can be easily verified for anyone that is undecided. Do a simple computer search for yourself and decide if Scott Walker is the right man to represent you and Wisconsin.
