LETTER: Reclaim Wisconsin

The eyes of the nation and especially the political policy makers in Washington, DC and elsewhere will be on Wisconsin June 5. This election result will influence political policy decisions in a number of other states in addition to Wisconsin.

To the editor:

The eyes of the nation and especially the political policy makers in Washington, DC and elsewhere will be on Wisconsin June 5. This election result will influence political policy decisions in a number of other states in addition to Wisconsin.

Voting for Tom Barrett for Governor and Mahlon Mitchell for Lieutenant Governor will be votes to bring back a civil, sane, fair and responsible government to our state.

Tom Barrett will work to put our state on a sound and fair financial basis. He will work with business, labor, and the legislature to bring back jobs. Visiting Hudson, he recently reiterated his commitment to healing the deep rift that has torn apart workers, families, businesses, schools, cities, townships, and neighborhoods. Tom Barrett is running to restore trust and integrity to state government.

A vote for Barrett is a vote to restore respect for our state’s teachers and public employees. Barrett will work to improve our K-12 schools, colleges, universities, and technical schools so that there will be advanced, high quality educational opportunities for all our young people as well as adults who need retraining to change jobs or keep up with new technologies - and do it in a fiscally responsible manner.

Tom Barrett will work to preserve the Wisconsin Public Workers Retirement Fund rather than turn it over to private interests. He believes in women’s rights and freedom of choice, access to health care for all, and having the right to vote without facing undue procedures and restrictions.

If you think that your vote won’t matter or doesn’t make a difference, elections in the recent past have been won or lost by one vote per ward. Voting is a civic duty and a mark of responsible citizenship. You are voting for the future of this state. Express yourself. Vote June 5.
