LETTER: A time of reckoning

President Barack Hussein Obama’s first term in office validates his deficient leadership and minimal accomplishments. Americans are well aware of his shortcomings and his failure to fulfill the promises he made when seeking the presidency.

To the Editor:

President Barack Hussein Obama’s first term in office validates his deficient leadership and minimal accomplishments. Americans are well aware of his shortcomings and his failure to fulfill the promises he made when seeking the presidency.

He promised hope, change, transparency and a new way of doing business in Washington. None of which has materialized.

His supporters felt he could overcome his inexperience and untested leadership by surrounding himself with competent advisors and experienced leaders. Unfortunately, his arrogance and lack of humility prevented him from doing so. In his own mind, our president’s opinion of himself has no bounds. He sincerely views himself as an “arbiter of what is, and should be best for others.” His word is not questioned, nor are his policies and actions. His distain and anger toward those who disagree is well documented.

One must wonder again what happened to this president’s pre-election rhetoric about paying one’s bills, taking responsibility for one’s actions, and exercising prudent behavior fiscally and otherwise.

His concern that the American people avoid “rushing to judgment” on incidents and issues does not apply when he decides to interject himself into the equation before lawful investigations begin. Doing so thwarts the legal process, as he must realize, in that he is a legal scholar.

It has become obvious that President Obama, upon being elected to the nation’s highest office, revised his initial priorities from creating jobs, improving the economy, initiating well-defined energy programs, resolving the illegal immigration problem, fostering as promised clean coal technology, expanded oil refinery capacity and increased nuclear power capabilities, etc. The priorities the Obama Administration chose to pursue in place of its original ones focused instead on Obama’s obsession to be re-elected as president.

Obama Care was his signature program even though its legality is highly questionable as well as its sustainability and cost to taxpayers.

The secret deals conducted behind closed doors to ensure passage of his signature health care program reflects readily that Washington, under his watch, will continue to do business as it has in the past.

The American voters are being afforded the opportunity of stopping the runaway Obama Express in so far as rampant debt and out-of-control spending which is creating a disastrous pathway for our nation and its future.

In 30-plus months the Obama White House has accumulated national debt at a rate more than 27 times as fast as any governmental body in our nation’s entire history.

The Federal Budget proposed by President Obama is a perfect example of what the budget should not be. The key elements of his budget plan would be to raise taxes with income tax revenue increasing $450 billion by 2016. Defense spending would be slashed by 19 percent over the next four years, interest on the national debt will more than double by 2016, going from $225 billion per year to $483 billion. All other spending would increase by $414 billion over four years.

Now is the time to become involved in ensuring that our esteemed president is not granted another four years in office. America can ill-afford the expense of what would be involved.
