HAMMOND -- Folks in Hammond are relieved to be drinking their city water again, without having to boil it. Officials issued a boiling advisory on May 30th, after contamination turned up in two samples from the previous week.

Hammond’s public works department chlorinated the water system and samples on Monday and Wednesday of this week turned up okay, according to Learfield News Service.

Restaurants in Hammond were buying water and ice to keep their businesses going.

One restaurant reported spending up to $500 extra because of the tainted water.
