Howard Leverty, age 86, Somerset, Wis., died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, June 8.
Howard Leverty, age 86, Somerset, Wis., died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, June 8.
He was born on Feb. 12, 1926, in Burkhardt, Wis., to Harry and Amelia (Simon) Leverty. He served with the Air Force and worked for Andersen Windows for 40 years and also was a founder of Float Rite Park.
His hobbies included golfing, traveling to Arizona, playing cribbage, woodworking, and working at the tree farm.
Preceded in death by his parents; daughter Erin Marie; sisters Marcella Belisle, Marg Proulx; brothers Raymond and Bernie.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley (Earley); children Shannon (Tom) Plourde, Pat (Marianne), Coleen (Jim) Moulton; grandchildren, Sally (Heather), Michael (Hailley), Molly, Justin, Jennifer (Cal) Nitka, Jordan; great-granddaughter, Tobi Grace Plourde; sisters Myrt (LaVonne) Moe, Maxine Irons, Mary Ann Potting; brothers Morey, Jim.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Somerset. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Cullen Crea Funeral Home, New Richmond, Wis., and also 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment parish cemetery with full military honors provided by the Somerset American Legion Post 111. His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers: Sally Plourde, Michael Leverty, Molly Leverty, Justin Moulton, Jennifer Nitka, and Jordan Moulton. Music provided by Barb Peterson and Mary Anderson. Father Andy Anderson and Deacon Dick Peterson presiding.
