Friday Memorial Library is hosting the annual Summer Reading Program and this year’s theme is “Dream Big – Read.”
The Summer Reading Program is a great way for kids to get involved in reading, keep their brains entertained and school-trained throughout summer. Weekly events featuring entertainers, Crafternoons for 8-12 year olds, and Teacher Story Sharing are offered during the eight-week program.
Kids are rewarded with “Book Bucks” for their reading time. Book Bucks are used to purchase prizes at our special Dream Big Store. Parents get the reward of knowing their kids are becoming better readers, learning new vocabulary words, and building their speaking skills and styles.
Participants began to sign-up for the summer program at the library on June 11.
Teens have different program choices and chances to earn cash prizes by participating in the “Own the Night” program. Adults have their own reading program called “Between the Covers,” and may complete a short book review to earn chances to win a Nook Tablet. Even babies are included in summer reading by joining the Rubber Ducky Club.
