T.J. Wink’s professional baseball journey has brought him home.
Wink, the Glenwood City native who pitched briefly for the New Richmond Millers, was signed last week by the St. Paul Saints of the American Association.
Wink pitched for the Millers six years ago, before he began his college baseball career at UW-Superior. Last year, he was signed by the Pittsfield team in the Canadian-American League. He started this season in the Can-Am League, pitching for New Jersey.

Wink was able to get a tryout with the Saints last week. Saints management liked what they saw, signing Wink to a contract right away. Wink was thrust into the starting lineup the next day, earning the win on June 13. Wink pitched the first 6.1 innings in a 10-6 win over Fargo-Moorhead at St. Paul’s Midway Stadium.
Wink was back on the mound Sunday for the Saints, but the game didn’t go quite as well. Wink was the losing pitcher as the Saints dropped a 13-6 decision at Sioux Falls, S.D. Wink gave up five runs in four innings.
