Firefighters, EMTs and paramedics are some of the first people to call when something goes wrong, so Vinny Mustafoski thinks it makes perfect sense that he give back to them in the way of a fundraiser.
Lola’s Family Restaurant’s fundraiser for New Richmond Fire Department and New Richmond Ambulance Service raised $1,671 on June 18.
Mustafoski said he hopes to make the fundraiser an annual thing.
“It’s just my way of giving back to these guys,” he said. “They do so much to support me, so now I want to support them.”
The fundraiser, which helped the departments to raise money for equipment and training, was hosted from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Lola’s Family Restaurant. Mustafoski donated all proceeds from the day to the two departments — $1,000 to the ambulance service and $671 to the fire department.
This type of fundraiser isn’t uncommon for Mustafoski, he said.
“All the family restaurants do this,” he said. “When we came to New Richmond we looked into it here and found out no one was doing it.”
Mustafoski said along with fundraising for the emergency services, he also plans to host a number of fundraisers for local churches and other area organizations.
