Fifth-graders earn presidential awards
The United States Department of Education and President Barack Obama recognized fifth-graders from Starr Elementary School who earned the 2011 President’s Education Award for Academic Excellence.
The United States Department of Education and President Barack Obama recognized fifth-graders from Starr Elementary School who earned the 2011 President’s Education Award for Academic Excellence.
The President’s Education Award is earned by maintaining a 3.5 grade average on a 4.0 scale. The student must also display high motivation, initiative, integrity, intellectual depth, leadership qualities and exceptional judgment. Finally, one or more of their teachers must recommend them.
The following fifth grade students have earned the 2011 President’s Education Award for Academic Excellence:
Ella Castro, Cal Crowder, Emily Duncan, Mikayla Ennis, Maria Flynn, Jocelyn Guerrero,
Abigail Hammer, Christian Kirkpatrick, Parker Kirkpatrick, Katelyn Marano;
Alison Meyer, Abigale Modesette, Brett Mueller, Cooper Scribner, Talon Seckora, Rachel Skinner, Lauren Smith, Tristan Steel, Ethan Thompson, Trevor Turner and Abrianna Utgaard.
