To the Editor:
A big thank you to the American Legion Post 80 for the flag pole and new flag at Citizens Field that is located just beyond the outfield fence, near the score board.
A special thank you to the New Richmond Parks and Recreation Department who put on the dedication ceremony and asked Vernon Conrad to raise the new flag and throw the first pitch during the 2012 home opener of the New Richmond Junior American Legion Baseball Team last Tuesday, June 12, at 5:30 p.m.
The game was played against the Osceola Junior Legion Baseball Team. Our special guest was Dave Schnitzler. Thank you for coming to watch me raise the flag and throw the first pitch during the 2012 home opener.
The original dedication ceremony, which was supposed to happen June 5 at the game between New Richmond and Somerset, was postponed.
A big, special thank you to Dave Newman for taking pictures of Vernon Conrad raising the flag and throwing out the first pitch and putting it in the New Richmond News.
A special thank you to Vern Lokker and Arnold Tjelta and Lee Feneis for helping me raise the flag.
A special thank you to Rivard Stone for the donation and to Geigle Electric for donating the spotlight that shines on the flag.
I was given the honor of raising the flag for the first time, then driven to the pitcher’s mound where I threw the ceremonial first pitch before the game. The ball was autographed by players on the Junior Legion Team.
A special thank you to the American Legion Post 80 for helping get the new flag pole and new flag up at Citizens Field. I am very happy and glad about it.
Vernon Conrad
New Richmond
