The Village of Somerset granted Dan Baillargeon a modified conditional use permit for use of his property as a parking lot for the Somerset Amphitheater during events.
The permit was modified to remove clauses that no longer apply, most of which apply to modification of the parking area that has already been completed. The permit was also modified to include events at the amphitheater as well as concerts, as the amphitheater hosts more than just concerts.
The village also asked Baillargeon to cooperate with Matt Mithun, owner of the Somerset Amphitheater, to keep people walking from the parking area to the amphitheater away from the traffic of the amphitheater’s new driveway.
The village is also going to be working with the public safety committee, and the amphitheater to keep concert-goers off the private properties that border the amphitheater grounds, due to safety concerns.
The village board also discussed and set a date for a public hearing on the village’s comprehensive plan. The planning commission will be able to discuss the comprehensive plan in-depth before that meeting, which will be Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.
