Toddler dies in Monday crash

A 2-year-old girl from Bayfield died as a result of injuries sustained in a one-vehicle crash near Washburn, Wis. Monday, July 23.
Authorities responded to a crash on Houghton Falls Road in Bayfield County at about 1 p.m. Monday. The crash involved a southbound vehicle driven by Chelsea Nicole Cadotte, 23, of Bayfield. The car entered the ditch and overturned, ejecting all four passengers. According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, none of the people in the vehicle were wearing seatbelts.
Mariah Gordon, 2, of Bayfield was airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth where she was pronounced dead.
Cadotte was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Passenger Erica Gonzalez, 15, of Bayfield was airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth with life-threatening injuries. Carter Gordon, 6, of Washburn was also airlifted to St. Mary's with life-threatening injuries. Myley Gordon, 4, of Washburn was also airlifted to St. Mary's with life-threatening injuries.
Assisting agencies included two City of Washburn ambulances, two City of Bayfield ambulances, two City of Ashland ambulances, and Bayfield County Sheriff’s Department.
