Summer vacation gives educators a chance to learn something new for their classrooms this fall.
Three local educators did just that as they attended the “Facilitating the Future” workshop at Spooner High School in June.
Patricia Thoreson from Hudson School District, Linda Reuvers from New Richmond School District and Alyssa Matzek from St. Croix Central School District participated in the workshop with 85 other regional teachers, counselors and principals.
The workshop was sponsored by CESA #11, CESA #12 and Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College.
There were nine learning opportunities focusing on a variety of themes: Building Bridges Between School and Work in a Green Economy; Economics for Any K-12 Classroom; Google Apps; Fundamentals of SolidWorks; Wisconsin Comprehensive School Counseling Model; On Course (student study skills); Teaching On-Line DPI Certification; Technology Adventures; and Curriculum and Course Construction.
The learning communities were taught by regional teachers from the K-12 system and from Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College.
