Ninth annual Roberts Lions Tractor Pull ready to rev up
The Roberts Lions Club's Fall Festival Tractor and Truck pull is set for Aug. 25 at 12:30 p.m. at the Roberts Village park. The proceeds will go to support the Roberts area food shelf.
The ninth annual Roberts Fall Festival Tractor and Truck Pull will be Saturday, Aug. 25, at 12:30 p.m. at the Roberts Village Park.
The event is put on by the Roberts and Hammond Lions clubs in order to raise money for the Roberts area food shelf.
Mike Pizzi, Roberts Lions Club member in charge of the tractor and truck pull, said the event began nine years ago as a fall fundraiser. Pizzi said the proceeds from the event have gone to the food shelf since economic times became more difficult, and the food shelf began to struggle.
“So we decided to just go ahead and start donating to (the food shelf),” Pizzi said.
Pizzi said the Lions club aims to collect around $2,000-$3,000 for the food shelf, but he said the Lions Club could never meet that goal without help from their sponsors. Pizzi said he feels it is important for the Lions club to give directly back to the community.
“It just helps those that are less fortunate than we are right now,” Pizzi said. “It helps people you see every day.”
Pizzi said the event has stayed about the same in size for the past several years, but he would like to see it grow in the future.
The event is open to trucks and tractors.
Tractor classes include Farm Stock, Too Hot to Farm, Improved Farm, Hobby Stock, Super Farm Open, Super Pro Open, Super Farm and Super Pro. Truck classes include: Stock, Improved Stock, Open, Pro-stock, Street Mod, 4WD, Diesel Truck and Diesel Truck Open. The entry fee is $20 for stock tractor and truck classes and $25 for all other classes. There are $50 prizes for the first place winners of stock classes, and $150 payback for first place winners in all other classes.
