LETTER: Permit names should still remain private
In response to Marilyn Jesse’s letter “Concealed carry permits should be public,” I would like my opinion also known.
To the Editor:
In response to Marilyn Jesse’s letter “Concealed carry permits should be public,” I would like my opinion also known.
In light of several recent shootings, I would much rather be sitting next to the person holding the permit and carrying than avoid them. But that’s their business if they want it known, or not, that they carry. There is a reason it’s called Concealed--Carry. You aren’t supposed to see it and know it’s there.
It would’ve been a different story in that movie theater had there been just one person with a permit and carrying. More people would’ve made it out alive.
I vote, come election day, whether it be for the right person or not. I go to church and pray to my God on Sunday. Because I carry am I to be avoided and shunned from these?
If you don’t want to shoot others, then don’t. We permit carriers don’t either, but we want to protect ourselves and our families. We, like you, don’t want to be shot at either, but we want to defend ourselves.
