Students and teachers alike are all gearing up for the first day of school next week.

Teachers in New Richmond spent a few days earlier this week readying their classrooms and attending training sessions related to the start of the 2012-13 school year. Fifteen new teachers, along with two new administrators, have been hired to help reduce class sizes and replace those who have retired or left the district. On Monday, Aug. 27, the new teachers spent the day getting acclimated before the rest of the staff reported to their respective schools on Aug. 28.

Like previous years, the 2012-13 school year will start on staggered days.

* Students enrolled in 4K and grades 1-9 will begin classes on Tuesday, Sept. 4.

* Students in grades 10-12 will begin Wednesday, Sept. 5.

* Students enrolled in kindergarten will begin Friday, Sept. 7.

Hot lunch will be served and dismissal will be at the regular times – 2:50 p.m. for the middle and high schools and 3:50 p.m. for the district’s three elementary schools. Homeroom assignments will be posted throughout the buildings and students should report to their homeroom.

Parents new to the district are encouraged to enroll their children at the district office as soon as possible. For registration information, contact Jackie Montreal at the district office at 715-243-7419.
