Proposed Comprehensive Plan Amendment

Village of Somerset, WI

The Village Board of the Village of Somerset authorized the Plan Commission to review and amend the Village of Somerset Comprehensive Plan, adopted March, 2003, pursuant to state statutes. The Plan Commission has prepared a comprehensive plan following a public planning process.

The Plan Commission will hold a public hearing on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Village Hall, 110 Spring Street, Somerset, WI to hear public comment on the recommended amended plan and to recommend adoption of the amended comprehensive plan to the Village Board. Following a short presentation, the Plan Commission will open the public hearing to accept public input. You are encouraged to attend the public hearing and to offer your comments.

Copies of the proposed amended Comprehensive Plan will be available for public review beginning Friday, September 7, 2012 at the following locations during normal hours of operation:

1. Somerset Village Office, 110 Spring Street, Somerset, WI.

2. Somerset Public Library, 208 Hud Street, Somerset, WI.

The recommended plan consists of written text, tables, figures, and maps. Areas covered in the plan include the following elements: Issues and Opportunities; Agricultural, Natural, and Cultural Resources; Housing; Transportation; Land Use; Economic Development; Community Facilities; Utilities; Plan Implementation; and Intergovernmental Cooperation. The plan also includes goals, objectives, and recommendations relating to these areas.

The Wisconsin Comprehensive Plan, law provided under Sec. 66.1001 Wis. Stats., requires that, effective January 1, 2010, if a local governmental unit enacts or amends any of the following; official mapping ordinance, local subdivision ordinance, Village zoning ordinances, shorelands or wetlands in shorelands zoning ordinances, the ordinance shall be consistent with that local governmental unit’s comprehensive plan.

Individuals who may need special assistance or accommodations may also contact the Village Clerk to request such assistance at 715-247-3395. Written comments may be received by the Village Clerk, 110 Spring Street, Somerset, WI 54025 by 4:00 p.m., October 8, 2012.
