Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College plans free career seminars the third Tuesday of the month at its New Richmond campus.
To register for a free career seminar, call WITC-New Richmond at 715-246-6561.
The first free career seminar is planned for Sept. 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. Additional seminars are scheduled Oct. 16, Nov. 20 and Dec. 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. (Seminars will continue into 2013 on the third Tuesday of every month.)
Individuals of all ages benefit from a career seminar as information about choosing a career and educational options are presented. The seminar consists of self-evaluation, personality assessments, career clusters interest inventory, labor market trends, employability skills, goal setting and career decision-making.
WITC Career Specialist Joanne Kocik facilitates these seminars. She has extensive experience in career development and a passion for motivating people.
For those unable to attend these seminars, WITC offers a free online career assessment at witc.edu/career. The 10-minute questionnaire helps identify which career areas might be best.
It is also possible to schedule a visit with a counselor at a WITC campus. Individuals may complete the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory for a nominal fee. The counselors will discuss the results of the assessments, past employment, education, personal experiences, and interests to assist in making a career choice and plan of education.
WITC serves the educational and career needs of more than 25,000 residents of Northwestern Wisconsin each year. With multiple campuses, WITC offers career-focused associate degree programs, technical diplomas, short-term certificates, customized business training, and a wide array of courses for personal or career enrichment.
