St. Mary welcomes new teachers

There are three new faces at St. Mary’s School in New Richmond this year. Below is a bit of information about the new teachers:

Jami Engelhart

Age: 28

Family: Married to Ben Engelhart. I have two children — Benny, 4, and Anna, 3. Both attend St. Mary’s.

Position at St. Mary’s: Pre-K teacher at St. Mary’s Catholic School.

Education: Attended St. Leo University in Tampa, Fla. and received my BA in elementary education.

Previous work experience: I was a first grade teacher from 2006-2010 in Florida. The past year I was a substitute for the New Richmond School District.

Favorite hobbies/pastimes: I enjoy spending time with my family. I love to go on hikes and to go camping.

Amy Groth

Age: 38

Family: Doug, husband; son Hunter, 13; daughter Abigail, 10; daughter Chloe, 8; and son Owen, 5.

Position at St. Mary’s: Kindergarten teacher.

Education: University of Wisconsin-River Falls; currently in Masters of Education program at St. Mary’s University.

Previous work experience: Have held long-term teaching positions within the school district of New Richmond.

Favorite hobbies/pastimes: Being with family and friends.

Ed Paulsen

Age: 46

Family: Rebecca Paulsen, Kelly Paulsen (seventh), Juneau Paulsen (fourth) and Davis Paulsen (second).

Position at St. Mary’s: Middle school math teacher

Education: Norda Education Programs, Wisconsin teacher licensure, June 2013 (planned); University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Ind., master’s degree in management information systems (MIS) and finance, 1990 – with honors; Saint Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, Penn., decision and system sciences and financial management, 1987.

Previous work experience: Marist High School, American Samoa (August 1987 - June 1988); Accenture Technical School instructor (January 1992 - March 2005); Accenture, LLC (June 1990 – August 2005).

Favorite hobbies/pastimes: Watching youth hockey, playing golf.
