Steve married Jodean Sturgis and together they had two children. Steve and Jodean later divorced. In 1972, he married Nancy Swan and they, along with the children, lived on the north side of Eau Claire. Steve worked for 17 years at Johnson Printing in Eau Claire until they closed and then moved to Hudson, Wis. After traveling 90 miles round trip to work in Minnesota, a job opened up at St Croix Press in New Richmond where the family moved until 2005. After 33 years as lithograph artist, Steve had to retire due to health reasons at age 51.

Steve was an avid reader. He loved all flowers and backed the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers. When his health was giving him a bad day, his best buddy "Baby" (quaker bird) made him laugh and got him through the days.

A thank you goes out to Dr. Soomar (Oakwood Center) and St. Joseph Hospice Nurse Debbie and staff, along with hospice volunteer Judy.
