The New Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce has accepted the resignation of its executive director Russ Korpela.
The Chamber's Board of Directors met Thursday morning, Sept. 20, to discuss Korpela's departure. He's been with the local chamber for about seven years.
Korpela has accepted the executive director post for Momentum West, a regional economic development agency serving the 10 counties in west central Wisconsin.
According to Chamber President Angela Olson, Korpela will continue to serve full time as the chamber's executive director until Oct. 1. He plans to continue to provide part-time assistance through October to ensure a smooth transition.
"He will be missed greatly but we wish him well on his future endeavors," Olson said in a letter to members Thursday. "I am pleased that he will continue to serve New Richmond and St. Croix County in a regional role."
Olson said the Chamber Board of Directors will soon develop a strategy and timeline for the recruitment of the next executive director.
"With change comes fresh ideas and new energy," she wrote in the letter. "The board looks forward to the process in selecting the next person to lead the chamber and serve our community."
