The New Richmond Traveling Summer Soccer U11 Girls team was recently awarded the Outstanding Ambassadors of Teams Honoring Sportsmanship (OATHS) award from the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association.

The award is an encouragement education program that recognizes the team’s athletes, coaches, and fans for displaying a positive youth sport experience and good sportsmanship before, during, and after games.

Game referees rank teams in various participation areas when submitting their paperwork following every game. Responses are tabulated and the data is analyzed to determine statewide OATHS winners. The results of the tabulations are used to evaluate overall sportsmanship in the youth traveling soccer program throughout the state of Minnesota.

Players are recognized for playing within the rules and the spirit of the game. Coaches are recognized for treating all players and game officials with care, respect, and concern. Parents and fans are recognized for creating a positive climate and game environment for all. Referees are given this opportunity to help further and better the sportsmanship of games by reflecting on these various aspects of each game.

The New Richmond U11 girls team was recognized with top honors from 100 teams competing at their level in the Minnesota league.
