Youth triathlon slated for Oct. 6
In an effort to provide a multi-sport experience for children and young adults, a youth triathlon was created in 2010 by the New Richmond Area Tiger Shark (NRATS) Swim Team. The third annual event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6.
In an effort to provide a multi-sport experience for children and young adults, a youth triathlon was created in 2010 by the New Richmond Area Tiger Shark (NRATS) Swim Team. The third annual event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6. This is a unique event and way to encourage children to consider something new.
The youth triathlon will provide an opportunity for area youth ages 5 to 16 to build health, self-esteem, and self-confidence in a fun sporting event.
The triathlon includes the traditional events of swimming, biking and running, with appropriate distances for various ages including 5-6 year olds, 6-9 year olds, 10-12 year old, and 13-16 year olds.
Registration to pick up course materials will be 11:15 a.m. to noon on Oct. 6 outside at the New Richmond Centre. The race begins at 12:15 p.m. at the Centre pool.
The bike routes will take participants to the Middle School track to finish the race with the age appropriate run.
Registration is available online through New Richmond Community Education youth sports events and is strongly encouraged before race day.
Registration is fee of $30 by Sept. 20 guarantees an event t-shirt. After Sept. 20 the registration fee is $35.
