New Richmond High School Music Teacher Jim Saliny and nine NRHS Orchestra students traveled to Eau Claire Saturday, Sept. 22, for the 2012 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Honors Orchestra.
To have nine of NRHS Orchestra students selected for this opportunity is a great honor, according to Saliny.
“It speaks volumes about New Richmond’s Orchestra program and especially our NRHS Orchestra students,” Saliny said.
The nine students included (violin) Anna Starks, Dani Adelman, Samantha Von Walter, Ali Utgaard and Cailin Warren; (violas) Isaiah Hobbs and Jordyn Bonney; (cello’s) Laura Lusardi and Gabe Hoven.
The UW-Eau Claire music programs are nationally renowned, with some of the best college musicians in the country.
“The event lasted the entire day with rehearsals and sectionals lasting most of the day followed by a performance in the UW-Eau Claire Haas Fine Arts Building,” Saliny reported. “With our NRHS students performing as well as they did - New Richmond was well represented and I’m very proud of the nine students who were a part of the UW Eau Claire Honors Orchestra.”
