NOTICE OF REFERENDUM

TOWN OF ERIN PRAIRIE

NOVEMBER 6, 2012

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at an election to be held in the Town of Erin Prairie, on November 6, 2012, the following question will be submitted to a vote of the people:

“Shall the person holding the office of Town Clerk/Treasurer in the Town of Erin Prairie be appointed by the Town Board instead of elected in the spring election every other year?”

EXPLANATION

The reason for changing the elected position of Town Clerk/Treasurer in the Town of Erin Prairie to a position appointed by the Town Board is due to the extensive training, knowledge, and responsibilities required to successfully fulfill the requirements of the job. Appointment of an individual will insure the position is filled with a qualified individual

with some experience and/or knowledge of the clerk/treasurer responsibilities.

A “Yes” vote will authorize the Town Board to appoint the Town Clerk/Treasurer.

A “No” vote will deny the Town Board the authority to appoint the Town Clerk/Treasurer. Thus the Town Clerk/Treasurer position will continue to be an elected position.
