Advertisement for Pre-Qualification of Bidders

The District Board of Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College will accept proposals for the pre-qualification of contractors for the following two separate upcoming projects on the Superior and Ashland Campuses. Although these projects will likely be bid as completely separate projects, it is the intention of WITC to use this single pre-qualification process to identify eligible contractors for both projects.

Project Descriptions

WITC Superior Remodeling and Roofing Replacement - Relocation of approximately 2,600 s.f. of science related spaces and conversion of existing 1,400 s.f. Science Lab into General Classrooms. Project also includes replacement of skylight system and EPDM roofing systems.

WITC Ashland Remodeling - Remodeling of approximately 20,000 s.f. of the WITC Ashland Campus. Remodeling includes replacement of plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems, as well as new finishes and reconfiguration of the Early Childhood Lab, and the Welding Lab.

Proposed Schedules

Projects involve major remodeling during the summer of 2013. Maintenance of this very aggressive schedule is extremely critical to College operations. The proposed schedule milestone dates are:

< Start Remodeling: Late May 2013

< Project Completion (owner occupancy): Late August 2013

Proposal Requirements

Pre-qualification of contractors will be used for the general contractors, and the following trades:

< Plumbing

< Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning

< Electrical

To be considered, interested contractors must submit a full and complete, notarized packet to Steve Decker, Associate Vice President, Finance and Business Services, Administrative Office, 505 Pine Ridge Drive, Shell Lake, WI 54871, by 2:00 p.m., November 12, 2012. Late proposals will be returned unopened.

WITC reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, and to waive any minor irregularities.

Contractors determined to be qualified to bid the project will be notified after the proposals are reviewed, and listed in the Project Manuals as approved contractors.

Single, prime bids based on a stipulated sum, will be accepted from pre-qualified general contractors, only. Pre-qualified general contractors will be required to utilize subcontractor bids for plumbing, HVAC and electrical work from the list of Approved Subcontractors in these disciplines. Specific project requirements will be included in the Invitations to Bid and Construction Documents which are expected to be issued to qualified contractors in January 2013. The bid dates are expected to be in February 2013.
