Crash claims life of Grantsburg woman
A Grantsburg woman died Tuesday afternoon following a head-on collision near Luck.
A Grantsburg woman died Tuesday afternoon following a head-on collision near Luck.
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Department, Beverly A Brunberg, 56, Grantsburg, was traveling northbound on Highway 35 when her 1998 Ford Explorer moved into the southbound lane and struck a semi-truck owned by Gelco Corp. and leased by Noradex Building Materials of Roseville, Minn. The crash occurred north of 240th Street in Luck Township.
Emergency crews responded to the scene at about 2:17 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Also responding to the scene were Luck Fire and Northland Ambulance.
Luck Fire Department assisted with the extrication of Brunberg and a passenger in the Brunberg vehicle identified as Robert D. Brunberg, 23, of Grantsburg.
Robert Brunberg was transported to St. Croix Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. It was determined that Beverly Brunberg had suffered fatal injuries.
The driver of the truck, Mark Holasek, 43, of Andover, Minn., was examined by EMS on scene and found to have no injuries.
Highway 35 was closed to traffic for approximately three and a half hours for the investigation of this crash.
This crash remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Polk County Medical Examiners Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
