Simonets furniture outlet in Stillwater, Minn. has opened a new outlet store in Somerset.
“We thought we’d bring some furniture out here,” said Brad Wheeler, the manager of the new Somerset location.
With the Stillwater bridge closed, Wheeler said Simonets wanted to open a larger location in Somerset so they could stock more furniture for their customers in western Wisconsin.
Wheeler said 20 percent of Simonets’ business comes from those western Wisconsin customers.
The Somerset Simonets, located near the BP station and the post office, has a wide variety of furniture from bedroom to living room to office.
“Anything a home would need,” Wheeler said.
In addition, Wheeler said he has catalogues customers can look through, and if they want to see something that isn’t stocked in the Somerset Simonets, it can be brought in from Stillwater so the customer can see it. This, Wheeler said, is for the customer’s convenience, because of the increased traffic on the Interstate-94 bridge caused by the closing of the Stillwater bridge.
The Somerset location has been open around two months, Wheeler said, and business is doing pretty well. He said there has been lots of traffic through the store already.
Simonet’s new location is on Aspen Drive in Somerset near the BP station.
