The Old Gem Theater is offering a winter session of performing arts classes. The session begins the week of Nov. 12 and runs through Dec. 19.
The Young Performers Ensemble, for students 8 years old and up, will rehearse and perform “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” along with members of the Old Gem’s professional company.
Based on Barbara Robinson’s novel, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” tells the story of a small town’s annual Christmas pageant that gets hijacked by the worst kids in town. Hilarity ensues as the colorful cast of characters learns about the spirit of the season.
Many young actors are needed for this fun play that will be presented for school groups as well as the public.
Young actors anxious to get on stage but not quite old enough for the Young Performers Ensemble may join Old Gem Juniors, a class for 5 to 7 years olds. This gentle introduction to the theater includes creative dramatics and theater games that teach acting skills.
Dance and Music classes are also offered at the Old Gem. Dance classes include ballet, jazz, soft shoe, lyrical and hip hop for dancers 3 to 12 year old. Ongoing private voice and beginning piano lessons are available too.
