LETTER: The mighty Spartans instill pride

Last year, I went on about how proud I was of the Somerset Spartans football team for getting the silver at state. This year, they got the gold, and I still feel this incredible sense of pride at each and everyone one of these boys and their amazing accomplishments.

To the Editor:

Last year, I went on about how proud I was of the Somerset Spartans football team for getting the silver at state. This year, they got the gold, and I still feel this incredible sense of pride at each and everyone one of these boys and their amazing accomplishments.

Every year they put their hearts and souls into not only the game of football, but into each other. I have seen the support and devotion they have for their teammates and it humbles me. The members of the Somerset football team develop this kinship that transcends words.

There is no blame; there is no pointing fingers if something doesn’t go the right way. There is only love and honor and understanding. All of these things are experiences the boys can cherish throughout their lifetimes.

Teenagers, who should be selfish and centered on girls and cars, create this circle of trust and friendship that can’t be broken. I am so thankful I get to partake in what the Spartans achieve.

Congrats on getting the gold, boys, but beyond that, thank you for being wonderful creatures. I enjoy cheering for each of you in all your accomplishments. Thank you for giving my son role models he can look upon and endeavor to be when he “grows up.” We love you.
