To the Editor:
Now that the dust has settled and the smoke has cleared from the election, I want to congratulate all of you who cast your vote for Obama, and another four years of the same previous four years or perhaps worse.
So much for “Moving Forward.” I had no idea that there were that many people in our country who lean toward Socialism, boy how naïve can I be?
We have now become a country that rewards failure. Heck, our big businesses reward failure all of the time by giving golden parachutes, and bonuses for leaders who leave a company far worse off than when they took over so why not reward failure in our government?
We just rewarded Obama for broken promises, increasing our debt and failed policies. At least Bush can no longer be blamed for everything, or will he continue to be the scapegoat?
We were offered a chance to turn out country back in the right direction, but instead we let people who not only are more concerned about what handouts will be taken from them by a new leader, but who expect the government to take care of them from cradle to grave.
Most of you, I assume, are intelligent enough to know where this is headed. How would you like to compete against someone who gives free stuff to people with no regard to where all the money to do this is coming from?
On a very small scale this happened to me a few times when I was in business. I called on a potential customer several times before finally giving up. I knew I had better prices and better service than my competition so why couldn’t I get in the door? Well, I discovered a few years later that this person was let go. It was discovered by a supervisor that the buyer was accepting gifts from suppliers for their business. Just think how much is cost the employer by not getting the best price the buyer could get got the company.
I couldn’t compete with the free stuff much like Romney could not compete against the handouts. I did revisit the business, and earned business, and saved the company a ton of money.
Now we have a modern day president who thinks he is Robin Hood. Let’s just take from the rich and give to the poor. Let’s kill the goose that laid the golden egg. Let’s level the playing field, let’s make the rich poorer so there is no incentive to create jobs. Gee, this sounds to me like something called Socialism.
Poor people don’t create jobs. They create work for government employees. Sure, the rich in our country have tax breaks, but they also pay one heck of a lot of taxes compared to you and I. Do you realize that if the government stole all the assets of the wealthiest people in our country it would only be enough to run our wasteful government for less than six months? Think about that.
It’s time to quit attacking the job creators in our country, and give them incentives to create more jobs. It’s time to quit handing out free stuff. Remember the old saying, “Teach a man to fish, and he will eat for a lifetime, give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.” This is a time when we need more teaching, and less giving.
One last thing before I sign off. If you voted for Obama you now own many things. You own the next terrorist attack, the curtailing of energy production, a nuclear Iran, more debt, higher health care costs, the fiscal cliff, trouble finding good employment, dependency on food stamps, China controlling world trade because of a spineless president, loss of freedoms, and much more that isn’t good.
Once again, congratulations for pushing us toward Socialism. I hope in four years this rant will sound idiotic to anyone who would read it. No one hopes more than myself that I am correct about that. The conservatives will be back to right the ship as in the past.
God bless America.
