The New Richmond Area Community Foundation went through a strategic visioning process in 2011 and one of their three strategic initiatives is to create a community vision.

As part of the process, the Leadership Trust Initiative will host a FutureWalk presentation at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at the New Richmond High School.

Attendees will be asked to provide their input on the community’s future path.

“Imagine a community who co-creates the values that are important to them, describes what they want their community to be, reaches across their diverse population and listens to all interested citizens, agrees on critical action initiatives to address the opportunities they have collectively identified and collaborates as they execute their priorities,” said Bill Buell, a foundation member.

The initiative is called FutureWalk, creating the local community’s path to tomorrow. Organizers have defined the geography as the New Richmond Area School District.

“The initiative has been actively worked on since March and we recently completed Phase One, where we researched seven communities across America that have been effective at visioning and implementation and identified their best practices,” Buell explained. “We submitted a grant application to the Otto Bremer Foundation for funding of Phase Two, which involves identifying and listening to our diverse population and crafting action initiatives.”

The public is invited to attend.
