UPDATE: Charges expected in Milltown homicide

Polk County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a possible homicide in Milltown.

Polk County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a possible homicide in Milltown.

Law enforcement officials were dispatched to the 100 block of Main Street East in the village of Milltown at about 1:21 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. A person was reported to have been seriously injured.

Law enforcement found Kari G. Roberts, 47, deceased of what appeared to be blunt force trauma. Roberts lived in the apartment with Scott Youngmark, 45.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Department, Youngmark was localed at his mother's residence, which was also the location of the 9-1-1 call.

Youngmark denied causing the trauma to Roberts.

According to a press release from the department, evidence and statements obtained during the initial investigation suggest that statements Youngmark made in reference to Roberts' injuries and death were inconsistent. Those inconsistencies have led law enforcement to believe that Youngmark was involved in the death.

During the initial conversation with the suspect, Youngmark appeared to have been drinking alcohol, which was a felony bond violation. Youngmark is currently out of jail on three open felony cases in Polk County and his release required that he not consume alcohol. He was taken into custody for violation of his bond.

An autopsy was conducted by the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office in Anoka, Minn. The provisional cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma injuries.

Youngmark was in Polk County Court today (Monday) in relation to his bond violation. It is expected that charges directly related to Robert's death will be filed within the next 48 hours.

The Polk County Sheriff's office is being assisted in this case by the Milltown and Luck Police Departments and the Polk County Medical Examiner's office.
