Stillwater Lift Bridge to open ahead of schedule

The Stillwater Lift Bridge will open to traffic ahead of schedule by 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7.

The Stillwater Lift Bridge will open to traffic ahead of schedule. The bridge will reopen to traffic by 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7 after almost three months of being closed.

According to a Minnesota Department of Transportation news release, it was good weather that made it possible for electrical crews to complete the final portion of the project ahead of schedule.

The bridge has been closed since Sept. 10. Rehabilitation began on July 9. According to the release, the project focused on repairing steel connections, replacing and repairing mechanical and electrical components, repairing concrete surfaces, painting portions of the bridge and replacing guardrail, curb and gutter.
